Situated on the Costa Dorada, 11 km from Tarragona, you will find the beach resort of Salou. This is a popular holiday resort for both international and national tourists thanks to its beautiful golden beaches, its pleasant Mediterranean climate, a wide selection of hotels and restaurants, but mostly because of its proximity to the Port Aventura theme park.
Port Aventura is an amusement park with five themed zones: Imperial China, the wild Far West, the exotic Polynesia, Aztec Mexico and the warm Mediterrània. One of the biggest attractions is the Furius Baco, the fastest roller coaster in Spain. Port Aventura also offers an "Aquatic Park, where you can cool off in the summer after a tour around the park.
Another alternative to the beautiful beaches of Salou is the water park Aquopolis Costa Dorada, where besides long days in water attractions you can also enjoy stunning dolphin and sea

lions shows.
With its 34 Blue Flag beaches, Salou is one of the best beach destinations in Spain. The Levante Beach, the Poniente Beach, the Capellanes Beach and the Long Beach are the four beaches of Salou. In summer, the larger beaches fill up quickly but there are also many bays where to deploy the towel and enjoy the bright sunshine of Catalonia. Some of these beaches sometimes are a little quieter, but they are smaller and are filled more quickly. Visit for example Lenguadets Bay, the Bay of Crancs or the bay of the beach of Fonth.
The Levante beach, the main beach is a place full of activities for the whole family, as its 1200 meter long "golden carpet" offers sports facilities and playgrounds for children. A small marina borders both Levante and Poniente beaches.
At this location there are also some interesting tourist sites and cultural venues such as La Casa Bonet on Avenida Jaume 1, a beautiful modernist-style villa. Discover the original shaped Salou Lighthouse, with its square structure and small tower. Another interesting site to see is the Cabo de Salou, a place with green areas, pine forests and beautiful beaches.
Avenida Jaume 1, which runs beside the Playa de Levante is one of the main streets of Salou and the venue for exhibitions or concerts. Another important street is the Avenida Barcelona which concentrates much of the business of the city.
Activities are many, your imagination is that sets the limit: rent a boat and explore the coastline of the Costa Dorada, practice scuba diving or sailing, or play golf at the Club de Golf Aigüesverds in Bonmont Golf or the golf Port Aventura. Monday is market day in the Old Town, here you can find items like clothing, shoes, bracelets, necklaces, spices, sweets, belts. And if you get to the train station, you can buy a ticket to visit nearby cities like Barcelona and Valencia.
